    • That seems a reasonable guess but the Lake Atlas search engine link in the post above says there are only 14 “Jacksons.”

  1. I’ll hazard a guess why. Many Florida lakes are “sandhill lakes” with a wide variation in lake stages. Sometimes these lakes even are dry. Some of the lakes in the Keystone Heights area of North Florida are like this (e.g. Lake Brooklyn, Lake Geneva). Major portions of the lake beds are commonly sand.
